WHAT WE DO

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Each academic year, we hold bi-weekly general member meetings to educate ourselves on a current issue Oxfam Canada and International are working on globally. Besides our own events, we support and join other events happening around Campus which supports Oxfam's mission such as Sustainability Week, documentary showings, speaker panels and so forth.

GLOBAL OUTREACH

Every fall semester (with the exception of 2020 due to COVID) we hold an event called Oxjam to fundraise money for a global cause. We seek out musical talents to volunteer for the event who are looking for exposure and fundraise money from ticket sales for a global cause. Last year, we donated our ticket sales to the Yemen Crisis.

Hunger Banquet

LOCAL OUTREACH

Every winter semester we hold the Hunger Banquet to support a local cause in order to give back to the community. The goal of the Hunger Banquet is to raise awareness surrounding the disproportionate amount of food people around the world has access to. Last year, we focused on the homeless crisis in Kingston, Ontario and got speakers from local shelters and the community to present at the Banquet.

THE OXFAM SNACKBAR

The Oxfam Snackbar sells Fair-Trade produced goods at cost to the Queen's Community to advocate the importance of your food product footprint and how the people behind the manufacturing of the product are being treated. Come check out our Fair-Trade snacks and Oxfam stickers on Wednesdays from 10-4 at the ARC!
